FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We know that you may have a lot of questions about your stay with us. We’ve compiled a list of the questions we’re most frequently asked to help put your mind at ease. Please always feel free to contact us if you have additional questions.

Are you a smoke-free campus?

The use of select tobacco products is permitted.

What items should I bring with me during my stay at SUN Behavioral?

Visit our “What To Bring” page for a full list of items we encourage you to bring as well as those that are not permitted.

Can you meet specific dietary restrictions?

Yes, we can. We provide a full-service cafeteria with a variety of options for our patients. We work closely with our nutritionist, registered dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure your dietary needs and restrictions are met.

Will I have a private room?

At SUN Behavioral Columbus, our rooms are semi-private. They include a private bathroom, a separate nightstand, and an armoire.

Am I allowed to have visitors?

Yes, you are allowed to have visitors. We recognize the importance of your support system during the healing process and encourage telephone calls and visitation with your loved ones. Designated times for calls and visitation will be provided during the admission process. All units have in person family visitation twice a week

How long does treatment last?

The length of time a patient is in treatment varies due to acuity and progress in treatment. It is dependent upon the recommendations of the treatment team, your physician, and you.

Will my family be included in my treatment?

Family care conferences may be scheduled with licensed therapists.

Will you work with my current therapist, physician and/or EAP?

Yes, we recognize the importance of continuity of care and we ask that you inform the admission personnel of anyone currently involved in your care.

Should I present more than one insurance policy if I have multiple?

Yes, you should always present ALL active insurance policies at the time of registration. By allowing us to verify all policies and obtain authorizations, we can improve the process by which your insurance companies coordinate payment for possible deductibles or co-insurance.

How can I find out how much my insurance will cover for my stay at SUN Behavioral Health?

You can ask any admission staff member to check with your insurance company, prior to admission, what your benefits are, and what co-insurance and/or co-pays you will be responsible for. They, along with our business office professionals, can answer any other financial questions you might have. We’re here to help you make sure the answer is clear.

Your final cost of care with SUN is based on your individual insurance and will vary based on your plan, coinsurance, and deductible.

Are cell phones allowed during a stay at SUN?

Cell phones are normally held in a secure location by hospital staff. At SUN we understand the importance of staying in touch with family and friends so we offer daily supervised scheduled cell phone usage times. These times are not guaranteed and are based on patient and staff safety. Cell phone times may also be restricted on an individual basis depending on clinical assessments of a specific patient. For adolescents, parental permission will be required as well for any in facility cell phone usage.
